Key Director Leaves SEC
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the departure of a key staff member yesterday, Tuesday, April 7, 2015. The agency released a statement that Andrew Bowden, Director of the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE), would leave the agency by month end. Bowden plans to return to the private sector.
Bowden served as director over the extremely influential SEC division for two years, but has been with the agency since 2011. “Under his leadership, OCIE has effectively engaged with investors and the industry to promote compliance, worked to detect and prevent fraud, and advised the Commission on policy issues and developing risks,” said SEC Chair Mary Jo White. All eyes are Bowden’s replacement, who has yet to been selected.
